BluEtrusco 2025. Le Origini
Data evento 23/08/2025 - 24/08/2025

This year, the festival is part of the broader "The Etruscans 85–25 project", promoted by the Region of Tuscany in collaboration with Fondazione Musei Senesi and the Associazione Musei Archeologici della Toscana, celebrating forty years of research and public engagement since the landmark 1985 exhibition "Progetto Etruschi".
On 23 and 24 August, Murlo will host BluEtrusco 2025, two days of events exploring Etruscan archaeology through re-enactments, workshops, markets, music, and flavours.
BluEtrusco 2025: a programme to experience
For two full days – Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August – Murlo becomes a large open-air stage: visitors can follow the trails leading to the site of Poggio Civitate through archeotrekking guided by archaeologists and naturalists; they can access usually closed-off spaces in the Museo Archeologico Antiquarium di Poggio Civitate, with special tours of the collections and storage areas; and attend lectures that connect the history of research to new perspectives on Etruscan daily life.
But BluEtrusco is not only about scholarship: in the heart of the village, an animated Etruscan market comes to life, with artisans, demonstrations, educational workshops for children and adults, role-playing games, historical re-enactments, and experimental archaeology activities. There will also be food stalls offering authentic flavours of the Tuscan tradition – from ribollita to porchetta, alongside craft beers and local wines.
One of the most evocative moments will be the re-enactment of an Etruscan funerary rite, complete with music, dance, and farewell gestures, staged by historical re-enactment groups.
And then there’s the music. On Saturday, 23 August at 9:30 PM in Piazza della Cattedrale, the Med Trio – Matilde Gori (trumpet), Lorenzo Gagna (double bass), and Tommaso Loteni (drums) – will perform in a concert organised by Fondazione Musei Senesi in collaboration with Siena Jazz – Accademia Nazionale del Jazz, as part of the VIS-à-VIS suoni programme.
A special opportunity that brings together the magic of contemporary jazz with the atmosphere of an Etruscan village.
On Sunday, the programme continues with more opportunities for discovery, conversations with scholars, activities for all ages, and the closing concert: a tribute to Fabrizio De André by the band "Rotta su Zena".
BluEtrusco 2025 is more than a festival: it is an invitation to experience Murlo with curiosity, guided by archaeology, creativity, and the energy of a community that continues to tell – and reinvent – its own story.
